Modbus Integration

Posital OPTOCODE (OCD) absolute rotary encoders feature an integrated Modbus interface. This allows for direct connection into PLC’s which already speak as such without the need for additional gateways. Also, since Modbus communicates over Ethernet, the cabling and infrastructure costs are reduced.

PC Accessibility

All Modbus absolute rotary encoders include the TCP/IP interface as well. Connection to the Ethernet Port on a PC can be made; either directly, or through an Ethernet switch. In addition to TCP/IP interface, the encoder also includes an integrated web server. It is possible to simply input the IP Address of the encoder into a web browser and a java based webpage applet is displayed.

Web Applet

The web server on the encoder allows for configuration and real-time viewing of data. Position and velocity data are readily displayed. Configurable settings include resolution, preset / offset, and cycle time. The IP address of the encoder can also be set, along with e-mail settings.
